WINTER WEATHER IMPACTING SHELTER HOURS

Due to current weather and travel conditions in metro Atlanta, the LifeLine Community Animal Center shelter and clinic will now be closed on Wednesday, 1/22. Staff are still onsite caring for the animals. We intend to resume normal hours on Thursday, 1/23, but will keep our community updated.

Shelter Director, LifeLine

Shailee (Shai) Dunbar is a lifelong animal advocate with a deep passion for improving the lives of animals and the people who care for them. Shai’s journey in animal welfare began at an early age and has been shaped by her hands-on experiences, education, and the inspiring mentorship of key figures in the field.

With a Master’s degree in Anthrozoology, Shai has explored the complex relationships between humans and animals, grounding her work in both science and empathy. She has also worked as a strategist for Best Friends Animal Society, focusing on regional programs to enhance lifesaving efforts in both the public and private sectors. Shai now serves as the Shelter Director for LifeLine Animal Project’s Community Animal Center in Atlanta, where she oversees a dedicated team providing care for hundreds of animals daily. Under her leadership, the center focuses on ensuring every animal receives individualized attention, strategic lifesaving support, and opportunities to find loving homes. She is committed to building programs and fostering collaborations that create better outcomes for animals, staff, and the community.

Shai lives in Brookhaven with her two beloved dogs, Fergus and Gypsy Rose (pictured left). She is proud to be part of the LifeLine team, working alongside compassionate colleagues and partners to drive positive change in the animal welfare field.
