LifeLine Animal Project Challenges Metro Atlanta to Find Homes for 2,000 Shelter Pets During NBCUniversal's Clear the Shelters August Campaign

Month-long campaign offers $25 adoptions to help more pets find homes.

ATLANTA, GA – (July 30, 2026) LifeLine Animal Project is challenging the Metro Atlanta community to help find homes for 2,000 dogs and cats during August as part of the annual Clear the Shelters pet adoption campaign.

Meet hundreds of dogs and cats in urgent need for loving homes at any LifeLine shelter, including Fulton County Animal Services (1251 Fulton Industrial Blvd. NW), DeKalb County Animal Services (3280 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd.), and the LifeLine Community Animal Center (3180 Presidential Dr.). Adoption fees are just $25 and include spay/neuter surgery, a microchip and essential vaccinations—a value of more than $250.

“During challenging times, pets provide comfort, companionship and unconditional love,” said Timyka Artist, Public Relations Manager and Spokesperson for LifeLine Animal Project. “We know Metro Atlanta has a big heart, and we’re inviting everyone to join us in making this one of our most successful lifesaving campaigns yet.”

Throughout August, LifeLine will host special events designed to connect more pets with loving families, including:

  • Meant to Meet – A unique adoption experience where dogs get the chance to “choose” their next family instead of the other way around. Families can foster, trial adopt, or take the pup on a Weekend Warrior or Dog for the Day adventure. Visit LifeLineAnimal.org/events-calendar/ for event dates, details, and the latest updates.
  • Clear the Shelters Grand Finale (Aug. 27–31) – Adoption fees for dogs and cats will be waived during the final five days of the campaign, making it the perfect time to find your BFF…Best Furry Friend!

Since launching in 2015, NBCUniversal’s Clear the Shelters campaign has helped more than 1.3 million pets find loving homes nationwide, making it one of the country’s largest annual pet adoption initiatives. Last year, LifeLine Animal Project found homes for more than 1,500 pets through the campaign! This year, LifeLine hopes to help 2,000 pets find loving homes.

While adopting and fostering are the most visible ways to save lives, helping families keep the pets they already love is equally important. LifeLine Animal Project offers assistance to pet owners experiencing financial hardship, housing challenges, or difficulty affording veterinary care. ABOUT LIFELINE ANIMAL PROJECT

Founded in 2002, LifeLine Animal Project is Georgia’s largest animal welfare nonprofit and the organization that operates the public animal shelters for Fulton and DeKalb counties – the only open-intake shelters serving those communities. LifeLine helps more than 46,000 pets each year, taking responsibility for every animal that enters the public shelter system. Beyond shelter operations, LifeLine leads the region in prevention-focused animal welfare, operating Georgia’s largest spay/neuter program and providing free and low-cost veterinary care through two clinics and a mobile unit. LifeLine’s community programs support pets and families with food, supplies, and access to care so that animals can remain safely in their homes whenever possible. LifeLine created the lifesaving infrastructure that Atlanta needed and continues to strengthen the system that allows animals to leave shelters alive. Learn more at LifeLineAnimal.org.
