Hosts BOGO Special as cat and kitten intake jumps more than 70%
ATLANTA, GA – (July 11, 2025) LifeLine Animal Project, which operates three shelters across Fulton and DeKalb counties, is offering a “Twice the Fun for the Price of One” cat and kitten adoption promotion through August 31, 2025. The deal comes as the organization reports an unprecedented surge in animal intake, including record-breaking dog surrenders.
Here are the highlights from LifeLine’s operational summaries for May and June:
Fulton County Animal Services (FCAS):
- 984 animals came into the shelter in June 2025 — a 30%increase over June 2024 —- the highest intake since 2017
- Cat intakes rose 71% from June 2024 to June 2025
- Dog surrenders increased 281% (from 16 to 61) between May 2024 and May 2025
DeKalb County Animal Services (DCAS):
- 979 animals came into the shelter in June 2025 — a 22% increase over June 2024 — the second highest intake since 2017
- Cat intakes rose 73% year-over-year
- Dog surrenders increased 125% (from 35 to 79) between May 2024 and May 2025 —
Combined Totals (FCAS + DCAS):
- Overall dog surrenders jumped 175% year-over-year in May
- Despite the large numbers of animals coming in, LifeLine had a successful lifesaving rate of over 90% and continues to need the community’s support in adopting and fostering animals
To help ease overcrowding and promote feline companionship, LifeLine’s BOGO adoption special allows adopters to take home two cats or kittens for just $25. Adopting in pairs helps reduce feline anxiety and supports socialization and enrichment.
LifeLine is also continuing its “Free Dog Friday” promotion through August 29, 2025. Every Friday, adopters can bring home a dog from any LifeLine shelter at no cost. All adoptions include spay/neuter, microchipping, and vaccinations.
