LifeLine Animal Project Ramps Up Lifesaving Efforts Before New Shelter Opens
Announces $25 Pet Adoptions and Home for the Pawlidays
ATLANTA, GA (November 10, 2023) – LifeLine Animal Project, the non-profit organization that manages the county animal shelters for Fulton and DeKalb, is encouraging residents to bring home a shelter pet during the month of November by reducing all adoptions to just $25 for the remainder of the month.
The offer is being extended, in part, to help prepare for the opening of a brand new Fulton County Animal Services shelter in early December. LifeLine must find homes for as many animals as possible before the current Fulton County shelter at 860 Marietta Boulevard and the overflow Midtown facility at 981 Howell Mill Road NW are permanently closed.
Anyone can adopt an animal at all LifeLine locations, including DeKalb County Animal Services, which is working with county leaders to reduce the animal population to 450 by the end of December. Currently there are 524 animals housed at that shelter, and sadly, we are having to euthanize more animals weekly to address chronic overcrowding and create a more humane environment for the animals.
All $25 adoptions include pet vaccines, microchip and spay/neuter surgery.
Not ready to adopt? You can always bring a pet home for the Pawlidays. Thanksgiving is a time that many American families look forward to spending together with loved ones. Consider adding one more guest to the holiday table by fostering a pet over the holidays from November 17 to December 1, 2023.
During the Home for the Pawlidays program, LifeLine Animal Project will match Pawlidays hosts with compatible dogs from Fulton and DeKalb county shelters to take home two weeks. LifeLine will provide the support and all needed supplies, such as food, a bowl and a crate. All you have to do is provide love! Spots are limited to 50 homes and fill up quickly.
