LifeLine’s Pets for Life program works with people living in under-resourced communities in Atlanta. Our focus is to go beyond the shelter walls and help keep pets with their families, by positively engaging clients in our community and offering free supplies and services.
Many of our clients’ dogs spend a lot of time outdoors, and we help supply dog houses so the pups can have proper shelter from the elements. Part of that is also supplying wheat straw for those houses, which adds comfort and warmth for their dogs. Straw For Paws started in 2018 and is supported through donations and volunteer efforts. We spend one day and use as many volunteers as we can, to deliver as much straw as we can, to help as many dogs as we can!
My husband and I delivered straw to dog owners today with the Straw for Paws program. Very impressive. We met some grateful people and got human hugs and dog kisses (and sharp puppy teeth! 😄) It was a good day."
