Kerry Moyers-Horton
Shelter Director, DeKalb County Animal Services
DeKalb County Shelter Director Kerry Moyers-Horton has been involved in animal welfare since 1997. She has over ten years working in a leadership role. After obtaining her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Tennessee and establishing a career in graphic design, she decided to change direction and follow her dreams.
Kerry then joined LifeLine Animal Project’s team in 2003 and helped open LifeLine’s Avondale Estates location. After moving back home to Chattanooga for a short time, she rejoined LifeLine in 2013, and with the help of her phenomenal DeKalb Animal Services team, has achieved and maintained a save rate above 90% since December 2018.
To best understand and serve the community, Kerry and her team approach each unique situation with open hearts and a desire to help. She also believes that true success is ever-changing and comes from continuing to learn more about the world around her. Kerry shares her home with her understanding husband, exuberant dogs, fearless cats, curious chickens, noisy ducks and peaceful aquatic friends.
