With Valentine’s Day coming up, no one will be more appreciative of your love than Atlanta’s shelter pets! Here are some of the helpful ways you can SHOW YOUR LOVE for them ...
It was spring of 2018. I had just released my debut EP and life was finally slowing down after 6 months of a grueling schedule. I found myself accomplished, but still missing something. I sat in my studio apartment on a Saturday morning, in a solemn mood, thinking of how to seize the day. I decided to walk to Piedmont Park and pray while walking. Looking for guidance, I felt I heard an inner voice tell me to get a dog.
Take our challenge and see if you can help a shelter pup find a home and a family to ring in the new year with. We have selected 20 long-term residents from our DeKalb and Fulton County shelters who need some extra help finding their forever home. 20 lucky participants will be selected and matched to one of our fantastic pups. By marketing your pup on social media, taking them out on the town for a day, and learning all about their personality, you can help a shelter dog in need find their perfect match!
The project was born from an assignment for 78 six- and seven-year-olds in the first grade at Atlanta’s Westminster School: solve a problem using resources available to you, and imagine a plan you can make happen with help from your teachers. What emerged was an entire semester chock full of learning in the areas of earth science, design thinking, internet research, art, math, branding, marketing, packaging, money handling, customer service, and social responsibility. Oh, and saving homeless animals, too!
