It’s that time of year when the days are shorter, the nights are colder and you’re busy buying gifts for everyone on your list.  As you make your purchases, please don’t forget there are some furry, four-legged friends who will be spending their holidays in the shelter.  Want to make their holidays a little brighter? There are so many ways that you can! Here are a few suggestions:

Save Twice the Lives with all Donations Doubled during December!

If you make a donation during December, it will go twice as far this holiday season, thanks to Anisa International which is matching all holiday donations – up to $50,000 – through December 31, 2017! And if you’re looking for the perfect gift for an animal lover on your list, consider making a donation made in their honor.  Not only will the donation be matched, but they’ll feel good knowing that their gift benefited Atlanta’s homeless animals.

Shop Amazon Smile:

Creating a smile is as easy as shopping! Use Amazon Smile when you shop, and a percentage of your purchases will go directly to LifeLine!  Just select 'LifeLine Animal Project' as your nonprofit of choice before you purchase.

Donate an Item from our Amazon Wish List:

Our pups and kitties would love to receive a gift from one of our shelter’s Amazon Wish Lists. Click on a shelter below to see their list and purchase an item: Avondale, DeKalb or Fulton

Simply visit the LifeLine page at, and LifeLine will receive $20 when you place your first order.

Donate Your Car!

Do you have an old car taking up space that you no longer use but aren’t sure what to do with?  Donate the car to LifeLine! For more information, please click here.

Shop Our Supporters

Petco is one of our organziation’s biggest supporters! Please visit them online or check out one of their stores as you shop for holiday pet gifts. Another LifeLine supporter is City Dog Market in Brookhaven and Avondale Estates, which is a wonderful locally owned pet store. They are making the holidays festive for our shelter pets, by collecting toys and supplies for them. And Second Life has an upscale resale store and a resale furniture store and has donated over $945,000 in grants to more than 60 animal rescues, including LifeLine, since 2011!

Give the Gift of Time

Volunteers are essential to the success of our organization, and there are so many ways you can get involved!  Whether you’re taking a dog out for the day, giving a kitty some love, taking pictures of adoptable pets or working at one of our adoption events, we appreciate your help.  To volunteer please visit walk dogs or help with training. You can also use your talents to help get more pets adopted. Interested? Please visit our volunteer page for more info.

Become a Dog or Cat Foster Parent

Fostering a shelter pet for a short, medium or longer-term period is extremely rewarding.  You’ll get to experience the joy of seeing a shelter pet come out of their shell and become a wonderful pet who is ready for adoption.  The pet will receive the benefits of destressing from hectic shelter life and receiving one-on-one attention. And everyone will be thrilled when the pet gets adopted!  Experience the joy and become a pet foster parent today!
Baby its Cold Outside

Our Avondale shelter dogs love to wear sweaters when they go outside or just want to be cuddly in their kennel! If you’d like to knit a dog a sweater, you can find free patterns here. Sweaters are needed in large and extra large, and can be dropped off or mailed to the shelter:129 Lake Street, Avondale Estates, GA  30002.

Donate old blankets and newspapers.
Don’t throw out your old towels, sheets or newspapers. Recycle them! We need newspapers to line animals’ cages, and sheets, towels and blankets to keep our pets comfortable and cozy. You can drop these items off at any of our shelters.
