Our volunteers spend over 300 hours per week with our shelter pets! From bottle feeding kittens to walking dogs, they fall in love with our cats and dogs just as much as we do. We think our pets are pretty awesome, but don't take our word for it! Here are some of our volunteer favorites!

jimmy jay

We love Jimmy Jay! We took him to brunch and to walk on the Beltline last week! He was so calm, loved the people and other dogs! -Karissa (Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more information about Jimmy Jay!)

Alec Barkwin

Alec Barkwin is an extra doofy sweetheart who loves everyone he meets. He will curl up in your lap the first chance he gets and he has an excellent happy dance. - Erin (Email This email address is being protected from spambots. Danburite is a magnificent giant!! He is a sweetie! -Vanessa (Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more information about Danburite!)

Sable

Sable is awesome! She is a 3 year old cutie pie with adorable shar pei ears. She is calm, quiet, and well behaved. She is shy at first but warms up quickly, especially if there's food around! She knows how to sit and shake both paws. She's very smart and loving. She is kenneled with other dogs and does great. - Lara (Email This email address is being protected from spambots. I couldn't pick one of them! Phil has a smile that will melt your heart. He's great on a leash and will do anything for a good belly rub! - Erin (Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more information about Phil!)

Tiffany

Just look at her adorable smiley face-how can you not fall in love? She's easy-going, affectionate, and patient! - Holly (Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more information about Tiffany!)

Basil is one of my Avondale faves. He has been there a long time because he does not put his best paw forward due to his barrier aggression. He comes off as ferocious when you walk up to his kennel, but as soon as you reach for the gate handle, he's doing the happy dance. If you step into his kennel, he immediately stands up and gives you a hug. He's really just a big teddy bear, especially to women. (He's iffy with men and kids.) He's such a big, beautiful dog with so much love to give. I'm determined to find him a home soon! - Deb (Email This email address is being protected from spambots. caroline

Sweet Caroline is a little shy. She warms up super quickly, and is a lovely, calm, and gentle companion. She’s a great size and cute as a button! -Andrea (Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more information about Caroline!)
