If your dog could talk, they would likely tell you that an infestation of fleas or the bite of a tick are some of the biggest annoyances they have to deal with. Flea bites, for example, can cause unrelenting itching, and some dogs are even allergic to the bites. Ticks are troublesome, not just for dogs but for humans too—spreading disease and making themselves difficult to get rid of.

Luckily for your dog—and for you as a pet owner—there are a range of products for you to evaluate and choose from in order to help keep these pests at bay. Many people are probably familiar with topical flea and tick prevention products; they’re applied to the base of the neck and gradually work their way into the dog’s skin to provide whole-body protection. Other products are more limited in the area they protect, and all are applied in different manners. To learn more and make the decision that’s best for you and your dog, read the tips in this graphic from our partners at Petco.
